Paula Kolojeski

Paula Kolojeski was born in Kansas, educated in the Philadelphia area, and lived in North Jersey, Lancaster and Pittsburgh, PA and Richmond, VA before settling at the Jersey Shore in 1977. Originally a painter of still life in oil, she moved to portraits in pastel and then to her main interest today, pastel paintings of the local landscape. She finds continuing challenges working on-site at the beaches, boardwalks, parks and wilderness areas of the shore. She finds the pastel medium perfect for spontaneously capturing the reflective qualities of sea and sand. The effects of light, time of day, and weather are particular interests and her affection for the area comes through in a strong sense of place. The fact that she is largely self-taught results in a recognizable personal style.

Her work is in private and corporate collections worldwide, and she has been involved in publishing limited edition reproductions of her images since 1986.
