Although essentially self-taught, Cathy Corcione is heavily influenced by the Art History education she received at Princeton University, where she earned her degree in 1974. Some of the painters who have inspired her are Morandi, Rothko, Sargent, Ellsworth Kelly, Wolf Kahn, Marlene Dumas, and Alex Katz. Her attraction to iridescence and shimmer can be attributed to Klimt and the study of Byzantine Art. Cathy’s passion for painting is matched only by her love of swimming. She is a member of the 1968 Olympic Swimming Team, Mexico City. Currently, she resides in Red Bank, New Jersey.
