Charles Wysocki was born in Detroit, Michigan where he resided with his parents until leaving for the Art Center in Los Angeles for a higher education. Wysocki graduated with majors in design and advertising illustration. After working out of Detroit as a freelance artist, he relocated to the West Coast and formed an advertising agency titled "Group West" with three other artists. He reaped the benefits of the commercial advertising industry until his love for creating primitive art finally won him over in the 1960s.
Wysocki happily pursued the creation of his unique Americana paintings, publishing countless calanders, puzzles, and the like, in addition to selling originals and prints he produced. Wysocki passed in the summer of 2002 and is survived by his wife, three children, and two grandchildren.
